National Junior Sculling Head

On Tuesday, after a busy day at the Schools' Head, the juniors were off to Dorney, to the Junior Sculling Head. Yes, you did read that correctly, a head at Dorney.

First up were the J15 Squad. In challenging conditions, (standard Dorney cross winds) we boated two WJ15 4x+ and one J15 4x+. The two WJ15 4x+ put in some fantastic performances to come away with a highly creditable 4th place (3 secs off bronze) for the A boat, and a 3rd place (of all B boats). The J15 4x+ rowed well and came away with 16th.

Our J14 squad performed well, picking up a bronze in WJ14 8x+, which we believe to be the clubs first medal at this event. After a slight mechanical failure at the start, the crew had a good row, placing behind LEH and Nottingham & Union (who much like the HORR, both won in a dead heat). The J14 4x+ also had a good race. With three of the crew beginning rowing this year, it was impressive to see them going off number one in their category. After a strong second half, they just missed out on bronze, placing 4th and just a second outside the medals.
