Welcome to Kingston Rowing Club’s Masters Squad!

We have one of the largest masters squads in the UK, with over 100 active members. We welcome everyone—regardless of ability, age, or background. Whether you're a former senior squad rower chasing high-level competition or someone who’s just recently learned to row, there’s a place for you here. We combine serious racing with a friendly, social atmosphere.

We compete in all the major head races, the British Masters Championships, FISA Masters events, local regattas, and have qualified crews for Henley Royal Regatta. At the recent Masters Head of the River, we had eight crews entered, showcasing the depth of our vibrant squad.

Off the water, we love organising social activities and enjoy being an active part of the club’s everyday life. We also head to training camps on the continent, soaking up the sun and working on our skills.

If you are over 28 and interested in finding out more or getting involved? Complete our form HERE, and we’d be happy to chat!

Senior Masters

Coach Birgith welcomes you to her masters' squad on the most beautiful stretch of water in the South.

If you have finished your senior racing, got your career underway or maybe retired, if you are juggling work, life and family, but still have the urge to get on the river, this may well be the right place for you. We have a large group of some 50+ masters aged 38 to 80 something, all having returned to race at the sport they love.

We aim to win at local heads and regattas, at Masters Championships, Masters Henley and this year our men have finally returned to race at FISA World Masters, currently coming middle of the pack.

Occasionally we form crews with other clubs should age banding require with some notable success. We have access to good equipment with organised squad outings, ergo session, weights session and circuit training available over the winter period.

We aim to run another training camp in April (post Easter) in Portugal to get some sun on the back and some miles in the legs.

We are also looking at Euro-masters in July, Open Nordic Masters in August and for the adventurous – FISA Masters in September.

So if you have decent rowing skills, an urge to get fitter and be part of the happiest squad at the club, then contact the captain or the masters coach, via the KRC website.

Women's Masters Squad

Our Women's masters squad is not just for those who have been racing for years. If you have returned to rowing after a break and are looking for somewhere to build your skills, our Development Masters squad may be the place for you. We are a friendly, welcoming and sociable group of masters that enjoy a programme of coached water sessions and land training sessions. We enjoy competing and have achieved successes at local and larger master's regattas including wins at Master's Fours Head and Masters Championships.

We also enjoy and organise a wide range of social activities, off of the water, and are very active within the day-to-day life of the club.

KRC Masters Dev Camp Italy

In both 2024 and 2025 we've had hugely successful training camps in Varese, Italy, where we worked hard on technique by day and sampled the delights of the area by night.
