The Junior Squad is the largest group at KRC with just over 100 active members. Offering rowing to anyone aged 11-18, we are very proud to be recognised as one of the top junior clubs in the country. The Junior Squad has been on a rise since 2011 when KRC had a Junior Squad of 40, who ended their season with a pennant and course record at the Schools' Head of the River Race, followed by 2 silver medals from the National Schools' Regatta. Since then, our Junior Section has continuously expanded, with Learn 2 Row courses year round feeding new athletes into our well structured system. For the Junior Section, each season is focused on either National Schools' Regatta, Henley Women's Regatta and Henley Royal Regatta.
Chris Griffiths has been in charge of the Junior Squad now for more than a decade, and with the support of a dedicated coaching team, the standard of junior rowing at KRC has just sky rocketed. This can be seen from our Fawley Challenge Cup crew at HRR 2015 & 2016, the first crews from KRC to qualify for this event, and from our results at National Schools' 2017, where we had four crews in A Finals, resulting in two medals, a silver and our first gold in more than 20 years. This is a huge achievement for KRC, and came down to the huge dedication from our Junior Coaches, who are already looking to next year, where we hope to improve on our results at NSR, as well as compete at Henley Women's Regatta and qualify for Henley Royal Regatta.
