JUNIOR
SECTION HEALTH & SAFETY
The Club believes that it is important that
members, coaches, administrators and parents associated with the club should,
at all times show respect, be encouraged to be open and share any concerns or
complaints they may have with the either the Welfare Officer or the Club
Captain (whose names and contact details are listed on the Club's notice board).

Role
of the Welfare Offcier
·
To
advise the club on compliance with ARA procedures on, and good practice in,
Child Protection & Participant Welfare
·
To
advise the club on compliance with its own Child Protection policies
·
To act
as a focal point for reporting any concerns from parents/carers, coaches and
members (both Junior and Adult) etc
·
To have
primary responsibility for checking that everyone who has significant access to
young people within the club is suitable for the role and has been vetted.
·
To
administer the CRB checking procedure (e.g. inspecting documents)
·
To
maintain records of those volunteers who have been checked and also to ensure
these checks are renewed when required.
·
To be
clearly identifiable to Junior Members and their parents
·
To
comply with relevant ARA & club guidelines

Rowing Club Junior 14-18 Group Is: Richard Ayling
The Development Coach of the
Kingston Rowing Club Junior 11-13 Group is: Phil Harfield (ARA Community Coach)
As a member of the KRC Junior Squad you are
expected to abide by the following Junior Squad Rules:

Row / scull
within the rules and respect officials and their decisions
·
Only
athletes of J18-16 age group (with a specific parental letter of consent for
allowing their child to go afloat) may boat
with out a coach
and only then as part of a pre arranged session agreed in advance with the coach. All other athletes
must not boat
without a coach.
·
Respect
your opponents.
·
Keep to agreed timings for training and competitions or
inform the Senior Coach if you are going to be late
·
Wear suitable kit for training and racing as stipulated by
the Senior Coach.
·
Pay any fees for training or events promptly
·
Show respect for Club equipment at all times and report any
damage promptly to the Senior Coach or Junior Coordinator
·
Smoking is not permitted anywhere on Club premises nor whilst
representing the Club at competitions
·
Do not consume alcohol or drugs of any kind on Club premises
or whilst representing the Club. The Senior Coach or Junior Coordinator need to
be notified if any athlete is taking any form of medication during training,
and especially before competitions.
·
Do not leave Squad training sessions before speaking to the Senior
Coach or Coach in Charge of the session.
·
Do not run or play on the landing stage
·
Do not use free weights without supervision by a Coach
·
Only use boats/blades specified from time to time by the
Captain for use by Juniors and as allocated by the Senior Coach

Code of Conduct for Club Officials and Volunteers
The essence of good
ethical conduct and practice is summarised below. All volunteers must:

Consider
the well-being and safety of participants before the development of
performance.
·
Develop
an appropriate working relationship with performers, based on mutual trust and
respect.
·
Make
sure all activities are appropriate to the age, ability and experience of those
taking part
·
Promote
the positive aspects of the sport (e.g. fair play)
·
Display
consistently high standards of behaviour and appearance
·
Follow
all guidelines laid down by the national governing body and the club
·
Hold
the appropriate, valid qualifications and insurance cover
·
Never
exert undue influence over performers to obtain personal benefit or reward
·
Never
condone rule violations, rough play or the use of prohibited substances
Code of Conduct for Parents and Carers
·
Encourage
your child to learn the rules and play within them
·
Discourage
unfair play and arguing with officials
·
Help
your child to recognise good performance, not just results
·
Never
force your child to take part in sport
·
Set a
good example by recognising fair play and applauding the good performances of
all
·
Never
punish or belittle a child for losing or making mistakes
·
Publicly
accept officials' judgements
·
Support your child's involvement and help them to enjoy their
sport
·
Use correct and proper language at all times
·
Support the Senior Coach by making efforts to speak to
him/her regularly before/after training sessions and seek feedback on your
child's progress and other useful information.
·
Ensure your child wears appropriate clothing for racing and
training and brings spare clothing, food, towel and water bottle to each
session
·
Assist the Senior Coach whenever possible at Regattas/Head
races (e.g. loading/unloading trailer, rigging boats, carrying boats)
·
Assist in crew selection by notifying the Senior Coach in advance when your child is not available, and if selected for a
crew use best efforts to ensure they attend the race training sessions and event.

Encourage
your child to comply with both Kingston RC and Junior Squad Rules
