2008 Season
The Junior Group is divided into two
sections.
JUNIOR 18-14 YEAR GROUP
In the JUNIOR
18-14 Year Group, the levels of training expectations and commitment raise with
the athletes' age and experience.
Within each year
group the club will provide various levels of training:
Full - 3 or more sessions (depending
on age) organized according to the objectives and current level of athletes.
Weekend - 2 sessions at times not
clashing with the Full Membership Group.
Equipment and
Coaching will be provided and designated by the Senior Coach for these groups and
regular dedicated training times will be planned.
At the outset all athletes will train together, which ever level of
training they feel they wish to participate.
Athletes who train more than 3 sessions per week (at any age) will be
full group members. Eventually athletes training regularly less than 3 sessions
will be Weekend Group members.
The Full Group Members will aim to enter a range of Head and Regatta races the
most important of which are outlined on the above diagram.
Representative Junior Crews - Annually all Full Group members will be assessed
for inclusion in crews participating in the Thames Region (South) Trials for
inclusion in that team for the Junior Inter Regional Championships held at Nottingham in April. In addition Kingston RC Junior
Policy is to identify any outstanding individual talent that may be of the standard
to participate in selection trials for the British Junior International teams
selected each year from J18-16 year groups. This identification will be made
from the J15 year onwards. International
teams included are the Great Britain Junior team,
the Coupe De Jeunesse and the Anglo-French match. There is also the Home
Countries International where crews are formed to represent England, Scotland,
Wales
and Irish teams annually.
The Weekend Group will aim to compete at Kingston Amateur Regatta.
JUNIOR 13-11 YEAR GROUP
The JUNIOR 13-11 Year Group, is where introduction to the sport happens.
This age group aims to train 2 to 3 times a week depending upon the time of
year.
Equipment and Coaching will be provided for
these and regular dedicated training times will be planned.
This group will aim to enter a range of
Head and Regatta races the most important of which are outlined on the above
diagram.
The main event for this group is the Ball Cup Regatta held in May at Dorney,
site of the 2012 Olympic Regatta course.
